Episodes 280 Arabic الرُّوم Translation The Romans Verses 60 About Surah Ar-Rum 030 Ar-Rum This is late Makki Surah, and is named Ar-Rum, the Romans, since the defeat of the Romans at the hands of the Persians is informed about as well as their victory in a few years is foretold. The Romans were followers of the Christ, although they had deviated from his original teaching. Nevertheless, they were closer in their beliefs to the Muslims, as compared to the Persians. So the defeat of Romans delighted the disbelievers in Makkah, while it grieved the Muslims, but Allaah SWT revealed that in few years the Romans would be victorious again, and this became true. This prediction filled the believers with hope, although their enemies continued to mock them. Allaah SWT asks to reflect over the various facets of Universe and to realize how they all point to the power of Allaah SWT Who Has created everything perfectly and is directing their course. It is also a sign from Allaah SWT as to how he instilled love and mercy between spouses, who find each other a source of tranquility. The disbelievers rejected the concept of Resurrection and Reckoning before Allaah SWT, saying that how could they be brought alive again after they turned into dust. But Allaah SWT reminded them that He created them and everything else the first time, so how was it any difficult to repeat it again. And on the Day of Resurrection, the disbelievers will feel as if they stayed on earth for only an hour or so. The Qur’an presents every kind of example for those who are seeking guidance, but those who want to persist in disbelief will not see the truth. For their deliberately turning away from the truth sent down by Allaah SWT, their hearts have been sealed from any further good reaching them.

And on that day the believers will rejoice — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran Within three to nine years. To Allah belongs the command [ decree] before and after. And that day the believers will rejoice — Saheeh International at the victory willed by Allah. He gives victory to whoever He wills. For He is the Almighty, Most Merciful. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran In the victory of He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. — Saheeh International ﭑ ﭒ ﭓ ﭔ ﭕ ﭖ ﭗ ﭘ ﭙ ﭚ ﭛ ﭜ ﭝ ˹This is˺ the promise of Allah. ˹And˺ Allah never fails in His promise. Allah does not fail in His promise, but most of the people do not know. — Saheeh International They ˹only˺ know the worldly affairs of this life, but are ˹totally˺ oblivious to the Hereafter. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware. — Saheeh International ﭩ ﭪ ﭫ ﭬ ﭭ ﭮ ﭯ ﭰ ﭱ ﭲ ﭳ ﭴ ﭵ ﭶ ﭷ ﭸ ﭹ ﭺ ﭻ ﭼ ﭽ ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ Have they not reflected upon their own being? Allah only created the heavens and the earth and everything in between for a purpose and an appointed term. Yet most people are truly in denial of the meeting with their Lord! — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran Do they not contemplate within themselves?1 Allah has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of the people, in the meeting with their Lord, are disbelievers. — Saheeh International ﮂ ﮃ ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇ ﮈ ﮉ ﮊ ﮋ ﮌ ﮍ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ ﮒ ﮓ ﮔ ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ ﮛ ﮜ ﮝ ﮞ ﮟ ﮠ ﮡ ﮢ ﮣ ﮤ Have they not travelled throughout the land to see what was the end of those ˹destroyed˺ before them? They were far superior in might; they cultivated the land and developed it more than these ˹Meccans˺ ever have. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. Allah would have never wronged them, but it was they who wronged themselves. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed [or excavated] the earth and built it up more than they [ the Makkans] have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. — Saheeh International ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ﮪ ﮫ ﮬ ﮭ ﮮ ﮯ ﮰ ﮱ ﯓ Then most evil was the end of the evildoers for denying and mocking the signs of Allah. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran Then the end of those who did evil was the worst [consequence] because they denied the signs of Allah and used to ridicule them. — Saheeh International It is Allah Who originates the creation, and will resurrect it. And then to Him you will ˹all˺ be returned. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran Allah begins creation; then He will repeat it; then to Him you will be returned. — Saheeh International}
